About
What Started as a Personal Outlet Has Blossomed into a Professional Exploration of Emotion and the Natural World.
Hello and welcome—I’m Rooma Sehar Sabir, an abstract expressionist artist based in Robbinsville, New Jersey. I’m a wife, a mother of three, and an artist who found her voice through color, movement, and the unspoken language of emotion.
My journey into the world of art began in 2018 during a deeply personal period of healing. What started with just three tubes of paint and a small canvas has grown into a vibrant, ever-evolving creative practice that now spans bold acrylics, watercolors, mixed media, ink, charcoal, and glazing techniques. Painting became my sanctuary—an act of transformation that helped me navigate motherhood, rediscover myself, and embrace the freedom of self-expression without fear or hesitation.
At the heart of my work is emotion—raw, intuitive, and unfiltered. I draw inspiration from nature’s quiet poetry: the flight of birds, the gentle rustling of leaves, flowing water, even a phrase in a book. Everyday experiences and spontaneous moments often lead to deep reflection, which I translate into color, shape, and texture on canvas. Whether I’m painting abstract forms or occasionally exploring representational ideas, my goal is always the same: to connect on a deeply human level.
I’ve always been fascinated by shapes—symmetrical and asymmetrical—and how they subtly influence our emotions and perceptions. For me, color is a powerful language. It’s how I express what words can’t. Each painting is a personal dialogue, filled with stories, struggles, aspirations, and victories. There’s no rigid structure—just an open space to feel, explore, and create.
Influences like Jackson Pollock’s fearless splatters, Kandinsky’s spiritual geometry, Helen Frankenthaler’s soft layers, and Franz Kline’s bold strokes have inspired me to break boundaries and stay authentic to my own voice. I believe that true art doesn’t need to be understood—it needs to be felt.
Outside the studio, I find inspiration in many places—books, music, gardening, cooking, travel, and long walks through nature. I’m endlessly curious about cultures and environments different from my own, and these experiences often find their way into my work, both consciously and subconsciously.
I see each canvas as more than just a surface—it’s a space for reflection, healing, and connection. My paintings are an invitation: to pause, to feel, and perhaps, to see something within yourself. Whether displayed in a gallery, a home, or a corporate space, I hope my art creates moments of introspection, joy, and resonance.
I continue to grow my practice through exhibitions, collaborations, and community-based art initiatives. Art, for me, is not just something I do—it’s how I live. And I’m incredibly grateful to share this journey with others who believe in the power of creativity to move, inspire, and transform.
Thank you for being here.
